THE ALTERNATORS

Not just any old covers band doing the same boring stuff. Our dictionary says "An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current." Which suits us: we take the standard, mechanical covers band (by-the-numbers versions of dull songs) and, through our rotating magnetism, electrify the buggers and light up the room.

We call ourselves The Alternators for three main reasons. The first is that we alternate between two lead singers (one male, one female). We also try to do alternative covers – not the screamingly obvious Brown Eyed Girls chased by Mr Brightsides - but ones you'd forgotten you loved, old friends you embrace warmly. And the third reason is that we sometimes tackle them in a completely different style to the original, or mash up two or more songs. Keeps folk interested, we find.
